Advertisements Set to Return on Namma Metro Pillars After 7 Years
BMRCL looks to boost non-fare revenue by opening metro piers and portals for commercial ads
After almost seven years, advertisements will once again appear on the pillars of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has floated tenders allowing ad displays on selected piers and portals across its growing network.
The proposal covers operational stretches of the Purple, Green, and Yellow lines, along with the soon-to-be-launched Pink and Blue lines. According to officials, the initiative is expected to give a strong push to non-fare earnings and reduce the metro’s reliance on ticket revenues.
By opening up advertising opportunities on its infrastructure, BMRCL aims to adopt practices followed by global metro systems that generate significant income through non-fare sources. This move is also expected to draw leading brands, add vibrancy to the urban commute, and strengthen the corporation’s financial footing for upcoming expansions.
